What Are We Doing?

The Knox Network of Christian Ministries (KNCM) is providing a Back-to-School Free Picnic at Riverside Park on Thursday, August 14, from 5:00-7:00 that will include games for kids of all ages, free dinner, free haircuts, and of course, FREE SCHOOL SUPPLIES.
 
Why Are We Doing It?

God is generous, always willing to pour out His blessings on His children simply because He loves us and wants us to know that. Mirroring God's heart, we, too, want to bless others simply because they are loved. By blessing them we show them that they are loved and that God generously wants to bless them and wants them to know Him. The Back-to-School Free Picnic is a practical way of showing others the generous heart of God.

2008 Event Coordinator: Jay Maners (398-4361)

The Four ministry teams are:

Promotion
School Supplies
Food
Activities
 
Promotion Team

What do we do?
The Promotion team will be responsible for getting the word out to the community about the event. This year, WNZR will again partner with us.
 
School Supplies Team

What do we do?
The school supplies team will be responsible for communicating the supply list to various churches and organizations (the list is already established). Then this team will lead the collection of the supplies, the organization into backpacks, and the distribution at the event.
 
Food Team

What do we do?
The Food Team will be responsible for collecting food donations and purchasing the food for the event as well as providing preparers at the event. The menu will be: hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, cookies, and watermelon.

 
Activities Team

What do we do?
This team will be responsible for providing the activities (not necessarily leading them), for setting them up and taking them down. Activities at the event are simply the "icing on the cake" so there is great freedom to what is provided. We would like to provide some carnival-type games for kids of all ages (especially elementary and middle school) as well as face-painting, balloon animals, etc. Also, we'd like to provide professional hair cuts for kids as we've done in the past.
